Welcome, Guest.
Pick ‘Em Pro Football (PEPF) continues where the Cardinal Pool leaves off, where picks are made based on every NFL week's matchup by each player, recorded for weekly standings and added to standings for the year. Refer to the contest rules before playing and during the year if you have any questions.
The PEPF Contest is open for registration if you'd like to join the contest. NOTE: If you are not registered yet, wait to register after each week's games. If you register during the week's games, no-pick games are considered losses. Making no picks at all in a certain week does not post losses! This is important for the yearly standings as a 75% rule is now in effect to be in the Yearly Standings. This rule allows players who just can't, due to emergency or whatever, to miss some weeks and yet still have the opportunity to win the Overall PEPF Championship as standings are determined by percentage, not total wins. Will you be the champion of the first season of PEPF?
The Cardinal Pool

PEPF in its first year recognizes the long history of the Cardinal Pool and with its ending, is in large part the reason why PEPF was created.
The Cardinal Pool, created and yearly maintained manually in countless hours by Seth Goldberg (herein as "The Cardinal") provided enjoyment for 30-years giving players an entertaining, free standard NFL contest (no points, just straight up) to pick weekly games during the regular season.
With the archived pages of the Card Nest, we honor those players and those In Memoriam.

This Week's Standings Recap
Week 7 was the week of the 97%, and not in a good way: the two most lopsided consensus picks on the board both went down, and five of the 14 games went against the room. Out of the wreckage came TT12, the only player to reach 10 wins, at 10-4 (.714) – up from 7-7 the week before and an outright win by a full game.
Behind TT12 is a four-way tie for second at 9-5 (.643): MaxieGirl, Road Warriors, HilRoadKill, and Amie G. MaxieGirl and Amie G each jumped three wins from 6-8, HilRoadKill climbed two from 7-7, and Road Warriors added one to last week's 8-6.
Then comes the week's big logjam: a thirteen-way tie at 8-6 (.571) – Raven Irish, The G.O.A.T, Cruizer, mosooner, Donojjhawk, MCF, Gridiron Guru, Coin Flip Casey, Hatchett, 7$come$11, Cped710, Cletus, and Clia Seeya. Climbing from 6-8 within that crowd were mosooner and Clia Seeya, while Hatchett slid back from 9-5.
Just below, five players share 7-7 (.500): BowlHogs33, T_Money, UpInBuffalo, Cuba, and clawesomeboy. T_Money's 7-7, down from 8-6, still left the season leader in first place on the yearly board. Under that is a four-way tie at 6-8 (.429): The Cardinal, DePickers Dawgs, G-Mann, and Usato, with The Cardinal's drop from 8-6 the steepest of the group.
At the foot of the board, Sunday Guesser and MONSTER ZERO share last at 5-9 (.357). For Sunday Guesser it was a five-win free fall from last week's 10-4, and it extends a pattern worth noting: three weeks in a row, the previous week's winner has landed at .500 or worse. 7$come$11 (14-2) fell to 7-7, MCF (12-2) fell to 7-7, and now Sunday Guesser (10-4) falls to 5-9. TT12, consider yourself warned.
Now the carnage. The two 97% locks both failed: Miami beat the Jets 28-25 (97% had New York), and Tampa Bay flattened Carolina 43-13 (97% had the Panthers) in the week's biggest blowout. The Giants beat the Texans 27-21 in overtime against the 93% who took Houston, Atlanta beat San Francisco 29-20 (86% had the 49ers), and Seattle crushed Kansas City 20-3 (66% had the Chiefs). Five upsets, two of them against near-unanimous picks.
The room did get nine games right, though several were tight. Cleveland edged Tennessee 27-24 (86%), Detroit beat Green Bay 20-17 (69%), and Pittsburgh beat New Orleans 16-10 (86%). Chicago held off New England 30-24 on Thursday (72%), Minnesota beat Indianapolis 16-10 (93%), and on Monday night Dallas ran away from Philadelphia 38-21 (76%). Cincinnati, the week's closest call at 57%, turned out not to be close at all: a 35-13 rout of Baltimore.
Three games were decided by exactly three points: Cleveland-Tennessee, Miami-New York, and Green Bay-Detroit. Two of the three went the room's way; the third was the 97% upset. At the other extreme, Kansas City managed just three points all game in Seattle. Week 8 kicks off Thursday, and with a thirteen-way tie in the middle and a winner who tends to fall back, nobody should feel safe.

This Year's Standings Recap
Seven weeks in, T_Money holds first place for the fourth straight week at 68-38-1 (.640), even after a 7-7 Week 7. MCF and Hatchett are tied for second at 67-39-1 (.631), each up a spot, with Road Warriors fourth at 66-40-1 (.621), up two. Sunday Guesser drops from second to fifth at 65-41-1 (.612). Each step through the top five is exactly one game, from T_Money's lead down to Sunday Guesser.
Cletus sits sixth at 55-35-1 (.610), and a four-way tie for seventh at 64-42-1 (.603) holds The G.O.A.T, HilRoadKill, DePickers Dawgs, and TT12. Cruizer, Cuba, and 7$come$11 follow in a three-way tie for 11th at 63-43-1 (.593). First place to tenth is now only about four percentage points, tighter than the roughly six it was a week ago, and any one big week can reshuffle this whole stretch.
Movement at the top-ten line: TT12 moved in, climbing from 13th into the seventh-place tie. Moving out were Cuba, who fell from 8th to 11th, and Cruizer and 7$come$11, who each slipped from 10th to 11th, one game outside the top ten.
The week's biggest climber was TT12, up six spots after a 10-4 week, followed by MaxieGirl, up four (18th to a share of 14th), and HilRoadKill, up three (10th to the seventh-place tie). Road Warriors, Donojjhawk, and Coin Flip Casey each moved up two. The steepest fall belonged to The Cardinal, down five spots from 13th to a tie for 18th at 60-46-1 (.565), while Sunday Guesser and Cuba each lost three. DePickers Dawgs and G-Mann each dropped two.
At the bottom of the table, Cped710 is last at 40-50-1 (.445), though an 8-6 Week 7 lifted the percentage from .422. G-Mann sits 26th at 53-53-1 (.500), down two spots, with UpInBuffalo and Coin Flip Casey tied for 24th at 54-52-1 (.509) and clawesomeboy 23rd at 56-50-1 (.528). Percentage-based standings with eleven weeks to go leave plenty of room to climb.
Week 7 was not kind to the leaders' percentages. Of the top five, only Road Warriors improved, from .618 to .621. T_Money slid from .661 to .640, MCF and Hatchett each from .640 to .631, and Sunday Guesser from .651 to .612. A single 7-7 week costs a leader about two percentage points, which is why a one-game cushion goes so quickly.
The results explain the shape of the board. Five games went against the room, two of them against 97% consensus picks, so almost every sheet took damage and the order barely separated: a four-way tie for seventh, a three-way tie for 11th, and three-way ties for both 14th and 18th.
With eleven weeks to play, a one-game gap at every step of the top five, and a leader whose cushion is exactly one game, the championship race is wide open. Week 8 kicks off Thursday.
